Beautiful Connecticut Engagement

Picture
I had the pleasure of meeting Alex and Caitlyn for the first time, face to face, a week ago and we clicked in an instant! They are chill and up for anything and I knew right away this was going to be a fun engagement session!
These pictures were taken in 41 degree weather! Thank goodness the sun was out to keep them a little warm, but they really were troopers! They also brought along a fabulous blanket with their future joint last name! It was a perfect addition! It was gifted to them from a friend and we thank her dearly!
To cap off an already awesome evening, Alex and Caitlyn popped open a bottle of champagne for the three of us to share, to celebrate a successful photo shoot! Seriously, so thoughtful!!

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?!
We met at Marist College in 2010 during Caitlyn’s senior year and my fifth year. We started out as friends even though there was a definite immediate attraction towards each other. Eventually, we became closer through purposely running into each other more and more on campus, or out in the bars or anywhere we could manage to see each other. Caitlyn would always know where to find me in the library or on campus, and I would go out of my way to hang out with Caitlyn and her friends. Before we knew it, we were together all the time.
At the end of the school year, Caitlyn and I had accepted positions in two very different locations. She would be working in Stamford, CT, and I accepted a position with a travel company based out of Europe. Respecting each other’s career paths, we came to the decision to go our separate ways but remain friends.
After almost 3 years of not seeing each other we planned to meet at an alumni weekend at Marist College. Our attraction towards each other was always there and we immediately began dating after that weekend. The rest is history!

How did he pop the question?
In 2017, we were spending the night before Christmas Eve at Rob Capua’s (groomsman) family cabin in Windham, NY. On Christmas Eve morning, Alex and Rob had made an elaborate plan to take ATVs up to a view point overlooking the slopes of Windham mountain for “pictures”. I was hesitant because it was about 20 degrees out and I was freezing but Alex insisted.
When we got to the viewpoint Rob commented, “Hey, this is a place where I like to take pictures, let me take a picture of you two”. I knew something was up because Rob had a legit camera with him all weekend in preparation of this moment, even though he claimed photography was his new hobby.
So, Alex and I went into an open field with a picturesque log cabin with a little lake and nothing else in sight, except the slopes behind it. Alex hugged me and told me that he loved me and got down on one knee. Before he could ask me to marry him, I frantically grabbed his face and kissed him and said YES! Rob and Alex’s plan succeeded, and we had champagne ready to go. The cold weather didn’t matter at that point, we were so happy.

What is your favorite memory together?
Caitlyn: Exploring the country together on our first road trip back in 2014, between June and October. We drove across the country from Connecticut to Utah, with stops to see friends along the way. The trip brought us closer together with all the experiences we shared.
Alex: Aside from all our trips together the past five years, my favorite memory together is when we got back together at alumni weekend in 2013. I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous to see anyone in my life, but once I saw her I knew that I wouldn’t let her go again.

What’s one thing that drew you to your significant other?
Caitlyn: His personality, loyalty to family/friends and his confidence and outgoingness.
Alex: Aside from how beautiful she is, I was immediately drawn to how laid back and smart she is.

Besides marrying your best friend, what is one thing you look forward to most on your wedding day?
Alex: Celebrating with all our family and friends.
Caitlyn: I can’t wait to see Alex’s reaction to me in my dress when I walk down the aisle with my father.
